MAYOR TO SPEAK ON BOND ISSUE MARCH 19
Mayor Tom Arceneaux will speak on the upcoming City of Shreveport capital improvements bond issue at the March 19th meeting of the Broadmoor Neighborhood Association.
The City Council voted last month to place $256 million in capital improvements before Shreveport voters on April 27. The package includes $124 million for streets and drainage projects; $49 million for police, fire and other public facilities; and $82 million for water and sewerage projects.
The plans were formulated by City department heads working with a citizens’ capital improvements committee named by the mayor and council last summer.
The March 19th’ meeting will be held at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church, 1915 Grover Place. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. following refreshments at 6 p.m.
BNA President Bonita Crawford will give a preview of the “Broadmoor 100” party on Saturday, April 20, at A.C. Steere Park. BNA will host the community event celebrating Broadmoor’s centennial from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plans call for historic presentations, music and speeches, food trucks and local businesses selling products and services.
